Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Dear Friend,  

What is the key to care?

Show up!

Or as LeonardSweet puts it: Be There!

Someone loses a loved one, a job, a cherished dream.

You think, “What will I say? What do I do?”

Be there.

Concerned about the development of a child or the well-being of an adult?

Show up.

Showing up counts far more than anything else you might say or do.

Show up in person – face-to-face time is huge.

Show up over the phone. Show up by means of texting, email, social media.

Whatever you do, just show up!

“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”  – Jesus Christ  John 14:18*

This is the ministry of presence – Jesus is in you and with you so that you may be with others in his name.

Think of a rough moment in your own life, or perhaps a time of growth, and ask yourself, "Who stood with me? Who was there, who showed up, to encourage my heart, to teach me?

Consider the people in your life - friends, relatives, associates, neighbors, church people - who face a difficult time or who you may encourage in some way. Will you show up? Will you "be there?" How and when will you do it?

Your ministry of presence in the lives of specific people will encourage their hearts and yours as well!
