Building One Another  

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

People are the Homes of Our Hearts!

Dear Friend,

People are the homes of our hearts.

As you think about the houses and apartments in which you have lived, ask yourself, “What made this dwelling place a home and not merely a house?”

In our homes we experience love, encouragement, tears, laughter, mercy and memory.

If a person is a home of your heart, then that person offers love, encouragement, tears, laughter, mercy and memory.

Such persons are among God’s most indescribably marvelous gifts to us.

Whether friend or family, you may offer to be such a home in the hearts of others.  It is one of the profound ways of fulfilling the good word, “encourage one another and build up one another.” I Thessalonians 5:11

Our ultimate home is the presence of the Lord who loves us! “How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!” Ps 84:1 “I go to prepare a place for you”- Jesus.

Thank God for the people who are homes in your heart – and by God’s grace - be such a home in the lives of others.

1. Think about some of the places you have lived. What turned a house into a home, what about an apartment made it home to you?
2. Consider some of the people in your life - family and friends - who have offered love, encouragement, mercy and laughter. What does it means for you to think of them as homes of your heart?
3. Now think of people in your life right now. In what ways may you grow those friendships in such a way that you become a home in their hearts?
4. Spend some time thanking Jesus, the Lord who loves you, for being "the" home of your heart!
