Open Your Heart to the Unchained Melody

Dear Friend,          

Perhaps you are feeling “chained down,” in some part of your life – stuck, overwhelmed, even bored. That’s likely true of just about all of us in one form or another because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Paul wrote from prison: “for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound!” II Timothy2:9*

“I am chained but the word of God is not chained!” WOW!

Nothing can keep the word of the Lord who loves you from coming to you, working in you, and reaching through you!

No matter what happens in your life, no matter how bound up, boxed in, or overwhelmed you may be, the word of God is unbound, unchained, sent by God to bring life to your life and encourage others through you.

In these days of being chained, make it a daily practice to read a portion of the Bible and allow God’s word, the one true unchained melody, to refresh your heart!

“Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword.” Hebrews 4:12a

This word cannot be locked up, shut up, or kept out because it is living, active, the very God-breathed word.

“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance (hupomone) and through the encouragement of theScriptures we might have hope.”  Romans 15:4

In what aspects of your life do you feel chained down right now - boxed in, overwhelmed, uncertain, bored?

Spend some daily time reading the word of the Lord who loves you, Jesus. You could start with the Gospel of John or the Book of Philippians, both in the New Testament. You will also find encouragement in the Book of Psalms in the Old Testament - try reading a Psalm a day!
