Building One Another  

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11

Mind Your Mentors!

Dear Friend –

Look back over your own life asking yourself the question:

     Who are the teachers, coaches,  and mentors who have taught, encouraged, chided and thus shaped me with their own knowledge and experiences?

The Apostle Paul wonderfully wrote the Thessalonians, “So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us..”

We see right away as a mentor, Paul and his team offered the content of the gospel, the good news about Jesus, their own lives in friendship and their love.

Who are the people who mentored you – imparted their knowledge of Jesus or of some other field such as playing tennis or playing piano or playing cards or whatever and did it while sharing life and love with you?

Mind your mentors! Seek them out – offer appreciation and affection!

Do it with a phone call if you can or by whatever means works for you and for them. If they are on the older side of their lives, don’t wait.

It’s back to I Thessalonians 5:11 in which we encouraged to encourage one another. So do it. They will find joy and so will you!

1. Who have been the mentors in your life? One way to approach this is to make a list of mentors from the different chapters of your life, high school, college, work associates, church people, others?
2. Will you "Mind Your Mentors?" If they are alive, and you can find a way to connect with them - will you? Connect to communicate appreciate and affection.
