When you face uncertainty, where or to whom do you turn for wisdom?                                    

Charlie Hicks, a Professor of Statistics at Purdue University, was one of my very favorite teachers. I loved his definition of statistics as “a tool for decision making in light of uncertainty.”

The moment I heard him say that, I realized that was also great definition of wisdom!  

Wisdom is ourGod-given help for decision making in light of uncertainty.

Why in uncertainty? Because if life was certain, you wouldn’t need wisdom.

You and I face countless situations in which the way forward is not clear or discerning our best choice among multiples options seems muddled to us.

There are of course, many sources of God given wisdom.

The counsel of the Scriptures.

           The counsel of wise people.

                       The counsel that comes of reading and of life experience.

For a delightful encounter with God’s wisdom, just before you go to bed tonight read a chapter of the Book of Proverbs which is called “wisdom literature” in the Bible.

In just 31days, one month, you will discover the entire Book of Wisdom filling your mind with wonderful wisdom.

“If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to allgenerously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.” James 1:5

2. Think of a current situation in which the path isn't certain. To whom or what will you seek wisdom?
3. Keep James 1:5 in mind and do pray for wisdom! “If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you.” James 1:5
