A Podcast About Encouragement
Building One Another
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11
Find Your Still Center!
Dear Friend,
I was sitting in my office, literally running my hand through my hair with the tension of a horrendous week, deadlines pressing, uptight people pushing.
Thelma Bishop, my assistant walked into the room. Thelma had many serious challenges in life, yet within her was a massively calm spirit. A devout lover of Jesus, she was one of the most deeply centered people I have ever known.
She said “Stan, be still. Fret not! Find your center. The God who loves you is with you!”
I had the college degrees but Thelma knew more about trusting her Lord and being still in the storm than I had ever imagined. She mentored me and I am forever grateful!
Do you have a “still center” in the midst of your whirlwind of pressing demands and mind-absorbing activities?
A wonderful way to find this center is to spend some time reflecting and meditating on the words of this marvelous Psalm, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
The effect on your life will be the restoration of your soul by the Shepherd who, “makes you lie down in green pastures and leads you beside still waters.” Psalm 23

When life is difficult, demanding and challenging, do you have a still center or find yourself bouncing around with ever shift in circumstance?
Here are two ways to meditate on Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God."
1. Meditate on each word for a minute or more: Be. Still. And. Know. That. I. Am. God.
2. Reflect on the sentence 9 times - the first time the whole sentence. The second time drop the last word. The third time drop the last two words and so on. After gong through all the words, then finish by reflecting on the whole sentence again.
