A Podcast About Encouragement
Building One Another
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11
Face Groups Vol 1 No 4
Dear Friend,
Nearly a century ago, G. Campbell Morgan, one of the great Bible teachers of our century wrote:
It has become very difficult for Christian people to talk of the things of Christ to each other. They meet together in ordinary life, and they talk of everything except the deepest things of their spiritual life; and that not because they have not deep experience, not because they are unfamiliar with the things of God and His Kingdom, but because they never learned how to help each other in mutual converse concerning them.[1]
What was true one hundred years ago is certainly true today. Most worship services and ministries address largely passive listeners who sit in rows. Such events rarely give us the opportunity to speak personally about spiritual matters.
A face group is small enough for people to face one another. It permits them to speak to one another and love one another. Think of it as the number of people who can sit around a table.
A face group gives you the opportunity to learn in an emotionally encouraging environment how to give voice your thoughts, questions, and experience of God.
Jesus Christ loved the face group setting: “Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples.” John 18:2*
Get into a face group with a few other believers to study Scripture, share your lives with one another, pray for each other. It will refresh your soul and you will build one another.

For Jesus the face-to-face group was not an option – it was at the center of his life – so how about you?
