A Podcast About Encouragement

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. I Thessalonians 5:11
A Place to Stand!
Dear Friend,
Elton Trueblood, the great Quaker theologian, liked to quote mathematician and inventor Archimedes who lived some two hundred and fifty years before Jesus was born.
Archimedes was discussing the use of a lever and said, “Give me a place to stand and I can move the whole world.”
Trueblood then quoted the Apostle Paul, “Now I would remind you, brothers,[a] of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand.” I Corinthians 15:1*
The key to life-changing, life-sustaining experience is having the right place to stand. Paul is telling us that the good news aboutJesus and his resurrection, indeed Jesus himself, is that place to stand.
In all of the manic busyness of your life as you face the many demands coming your way, it is easy to think that life just hurtles along without either sense or a center.
Yet, there is One who offers you a place to stand, who offers both sense and center to life, whose grace invites you to come. Jesus!
“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.” Psalm62:2 Jesus, the Rock of Ages is the place to stand!

Scripture from theESV
Jesus once used the image of a person whose house was built on sand which did not withstand the storm, yet the house built on a firm foundation stood. Are you clear about the foundation you entrust your life to? Is your foundation a philosophy of life or a person?
Reflect on these words of Jesus. Can you see why he is "the" place to stand? Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Have you in your life consciously decided to entrust yourself to Jesus Christ, to follow him, to stand on him? If not it only takes the desire to do so on your part and as you tell him of that desire, Jesus will welcome you to himself and into his kingdom.
Our heart is to encourage your heart and to encourage you to encourage others.
